1984 - The beginning
It all started back in 1984, when Jan Welthagen (Snr) began crafting homemade jams in the heart of Limpopo, where sunshine, fertile soil, and community spirit make everything taste better.
Early 1990's - Expanding Product Lines
As the seasons rolled on, so did the ideas. With fresh produce in abundance, the Miami team started experimenting, turning our harvests into flavour-packed favourites.
Mid 1990's - Transition to Bottled Products
By the early ’90s, glass bottles replaced tins, and beetroot, gherkins, and pickled onions joined the line-up, earning Miami its place as one of South Africa’s leading producers of pickled greatness.
1996 - The Mango Atchar Era
Then came the mango magic. Partnering with local farmers, Miami created its today-favourite, Mango Atchar, a garnish that quickly became a household staple.
2011 – The Boerie Breakthrough
In May 2011, Miami introduced its now‑famous Boerie Relish, crafted to bring bold, braai-ready flavour to South African favourites. It quickly became a beloved staple, adding rich taste to every boerie roll it touched.
